Emotes!

Have you ever felt the need to point, wave, or perhaps even do a victory dance?

Well now you can with avatar emotes!  Type /emotes into the chat window and hit enter to see the full list of what’s available, but here are a few of our favorites:

/oldschooldance
/clap

Meet Me Now
It’s now even easier to have your friends join you on hangout with our “Meet Me Now” feature.  Press this button on your buddy list to create a link that you can give out to your friends any way you want! They can even come into your room and hangout with you without having to sign up!

Here’s how you can send links to your friends:

• Click “Meet Me Now” from your buddy list.
• Click and drag to highlight the link, then press Ctrl + C (or apple + C if you’re on a Mac) to copy.
• Press Ctrl + V (or apple + V) to paste the link anywhere you want!  Try e-mail, AIM or Facebook!  (If you’re on Internet Explorer 7 this won’t work, you’ll need to type the link).

Thanksgiving 2008 updates!

New on hangout.net this week – 3rd person perspective! You can now walk around while seeing your avatar at the same time

A few helpful tips

How do I move around?
You can still use the arrow keys to move around your room! The camera will now hover behind your character’s head so that you can see yourself as you walk around!

How do I change my perspective?
Use the scroll wheel on your mouse to zoom in and out between 1st person perspective (looking through your avatar’s eyes) and 3rd person perspective (looking over your avatar’s shoulder).

How do I see what I look like from the front?
To rotate your view around your avatar, click and drag the right-mouse button around

A few more things to check out

• New hairstyles for guys and girls! Click on the t-shirt icon on the dock to change what your avatar looks like.
• You can now jump! Press the Space key and see where you can climb.
